THE ABC OF SOCIAL CREDIT

“If Industry’s objective is more efficiently carried out by the use of machinery, automation and now robots, than by the use of man-power, then we must expect a progressive increase in unemployment.”  That was understood in the early years of the 20th century.      What about now in the early years of the 21st century?  The issues have become more pressing. Elizabeth Holter published a little book in 1934 explaining in simple terms what she understood as “The ABC of Social Credit”.  As she explained in the Introduction, the past few hundred years have seen the transformation of the world.  Before James Watt invented the first practical steam engine, the struggle for existence required all man’s time and energies and scarcity and want was never far removed, and always to be reckoned with.  And then ‘scarcity in an age of plenty’ loomed large because mankind had not grasped the dramatic changes that had taken place and his systems/institutions were based on policies originating in an earlier age.

But we are now in the early part of the 21st century and with the Robotic Revolution and the growing Precariat (precarious unemployed and ever-growing personal and national debt)) there are those who are putting forward ideas on how to provide a Basic Income, and/or Positive Money for all citizens.

THE CHARTISTS FROM A SOCIAL CREDIT VIEWPOINT

Watched the videos on the Institute of Public Affairs website by Dr. Bella on Australia’s The British Heritage of our Freedoms.  The videos are well worth watching.   Found here… https://ipa.org.au/heritage-of-our-freedoms

The video “Australia’s own Tea Party Revolution” was of great interest to me.  It dealt with the role of a group of Chartists “on the Victorian gold fields in the 1850s and the demands they made following the Eureka Stockade…”Regular readers and supporters of ALoR journals and website would be very familiar with such discussions as Magna Carta; The Rule of Law; English (Common) Law; etc., so I thought I should search through The Social Crediter to see what C.H. Douglas had to say about the Chartists. The following is what I found in The Social Crediter, Vol.7, No.2, 31st January 1942Writing of Karl Marx, Major Douglas quotes historian Nesta Webster:

NOSEY PARKER IN THE GARDEN

The following passage on the Fabian Manifesto of 1893 is from English Saga by Arthur Bryant:

“.... By attacking the private ownership of property they [the socialists] struck unconsciously at the foundation on which in the historic policy of England’s individual liberty had always rested. Because the privilege of ownership had ceased to be widespread as in the past and had become restricted to the few, they supposed that its destruction would extend to the freedom of many.

The Translation of “Quadragesimo Anno” Also of Great Interest

Sir,The difference of opinion between H. E. Cardinal Villeneuve and the social crediters of Quebec revealed in the Montreal journal vers Demain presents an opportunity not to be missed. There are two passages in Quadragesimo Anno, the great encyclical on the Reconstruction of the Social Order issued by the late Pope Pius XI, which are of great importance in dealing with uninformed criticism from members of the Catholic Church.

From paragraph 75 of the Latin version, the English translation reads,

SOME IMPORTANT WARNINGS FROM THE PAST

The Supreme State, Planning and Scarcity: On Target 25 July 2014

“We are at the present time unquestionably under the domination of a financial system, which rules us. It rules us in our most basic necessities; the necessity for bed, board and clothes, and the other things that go to make up the standard of living. But we do not want to transfer that domination from, let us say, what we can call the banking system under another name to something we call the State. The great danger at the present time is not that the present financial system will persist ... but that under the confusion that will exist as a result of the crises caused by the breakdown of the financial system, an even greater tyranny may be put over on you as in the cases of many countries at the present time, and which is in active progress in still more countries even as I speak. That is the danger, and you must keep in your minds, to avoid that danger, some clear objective, and that objective, the proper relationship of the individual to the group, is in my opinion, the relationship and objective to which we want to strive….” - - From a speech by Major C.H. Douglas at Calgary, Alberta, Canada, April, 1934. https://alor.org/Library/ThoughtsofDouglas.htm

INDEPENDENT’S PROPOSAL: MORE SOCIALISM BY STEALTH?

So, the news has filtered down to the UK’s newspaper The Independent that Canada is considering a Basic Income for the nation’s ‘precariats’.  Paid for out of taxation of course – you know, tax the rich to pay the poor - not created by a National Credit Office and issued debt free, as proposed by Social Credit concepts.

“Unlike its neighbour the United States, Canada projects an image of peace, plenty and progressive policies. But there’s a quiet rumble across the North American country. While the rest of the world is in love with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, his popularity ratings at home are down 9 per cent on last year. Income inequality is acute and unemployment is still stubbornly high. What new work that is being created in Canada’s economy is precarious and part-time. Wage rises are being eaten away at by inflation since the financial crisis and millions of jobs are at risk from automation.

WHAT ABOUT THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL ?

Eric D. Butler wrote:

“If, as we are told in the New Testament, the love of money is the root of all evil, why then, at a time when Christian Civilisation is clearly disintegrating, do so few of those who claim to speak in the name of Christianity, devote themselves to a realistic consideration of this warning?Christ was emphatic that it was impossible to worship both God and Mammon, that no one could serve two masters, and in the only act of physical violence during His Ministry, whipped the money changers out of the Temple.

The Western Betrayal of Civilisation

“…All of us are standing on the brink of a great historical cataclysm, a flood that swallows up civilisation and changes whole epochs… we have all got to face up to a crisis - not just a social crisis, not just a political crisis, not just a military crisis. And we must not only face up to this crisis, but we must stand firm in this great upheaval - an upheaval similar to that which marked the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance . . . Will we ever succeed in shaking off this burden, in giving free reign to the spirit that was breathed into us at birth, that spirit that distinguishes us from the animal world?” - - Alexander Solzhenitsyn in The Western Betrayal of Civilisation - B.B.C. Address, 1976

THE NEW BARBARISM by Eric D. Butler, On Target 28 August 1998

The lessons of history are clear for all those who read them. But these lessons must be learnt, and acted upon, if ever there is to be peace on earth. The faster the growth of centralised power, the greater the social dislocations and violence. The faster the growth of violence at all levels throughout the world, the faster the retreat from civilisation.- - Eric D. Butler

We are republishing an article Eric D. Butler wrote in 1998.  But of course I can remember him sounding such warnings much earlier than 1998. Having absorbed Clifford Hugh Douglas’ analysis of Christian philosophy and history, Eric could see what was happening to the present western world.  Read on:

IT SEEMS LIKE WE’RE ALL STUCK ON THE R.E.M. SONG BY Bernard Gaynor

It seems like we’re all stuck in the R.E.M. song, ‘It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)’.  The leader of the great power in the Western world, Donald Trump, has just given a speech in which he openly raises the prospect of the decline of Western civilisation. And everyone is singing that they know it.And everyone is dancing that they feel fine. We’re partying like there will be no tomorrow. And for the West that may well be the case.

This is part of what Donald Trump said ahead of the G20 in Poland:

WANT TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE? HAVE FEWER CHILDREN: THE GUARDIAN

A timely news item from Breitbart News, 12 Jul 2017.  It provides a backdrop for Bernard Gaynor’s comments on US President Donald Trump’s recent warning to the West. Having children is a “lifestyle choice” to be discouraged among young people in developed nations and is bad for the planet, according to a new paper trailed positively by the British left-wing Guardian newspaper.Source:  http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/07/12/guardian-save-the-planet-have-fewer-children/

Reporting a new Swedish-Canadian study promoting reducing the number of children born and seeking to target anti-child messages towards adolescents, Britain’s Guardian newspaper has played up the findings, labelling the “true impacts” of having a family as “lifestyle choices”, and asking the question of readers “Can you bring yourself to have one fewer of these?”.     “The climate mitigation gap: education and government recommendations miss the most effective individual actions”, published in Environmental Research Letters, is a new study by Seth Wynes of the Centre for Sustainability Studies, Lund University, Sweden, and Kimberly A Nicholas of the University of British Columbia, Canada.

AUSTRALIA’S ETERNAL POLITICAL CRISIS by James Reed, 2014

Paul Kelly, The Australian’s “editor-at-large” (whatever that means – is there an “editor-at-small”), tells us that Australia’s political culture “is noisy, egotistical, destructive and consumed by self-interest”. (The Australian 2 July 2014, p.16) “The trajectory of Australia’s relative decline now seems set” and the political malaise “might only deepen under the Abbott prime ministership”.  The problem is the inability of the political system to respond to society’s needs – and this is common right across the West, Kelly tells us. The problems are at root philosophical: a culture of complaint, the decline of self-reliance, the belief that virtually any hardship is the fault of government”, are some of the problems.

The League has been saying this and more for some time, indeed, a long time. The political system has got increasingly worse and basically has ceased to function as it was intended to do. Clearly we are at the “crossroads” and we may have to accept that “Australia” as we knew it is now dead for us and that we need to start building anew. It’s like an old orange tree that my folks had. The tree died, but some time later a new tree sprang up and grew around the old dead wood. The old wood eventually was no more.

IT WAS THE BEACH GOERS AND THE GRACE OF GOD’S WILL

A good news story for a change.  The world is deluged by the bad news stories these days so we thought it would be good for our readers to read some good news for a change.Source: Dozens of beachgoers form human chain to save family swept out to sea in Florida‘These people are not drowning today’ - Independent, Katie Mettler, 11 July 2017     Dozens of people form human chain to save drowning familyWhen Jessica and Derek Simmons first saw the beachgoers pausing to stare toward the water, the young couple just assumed someone had spotted a shark.  It was Saturday evening, after all, peak summer season in Panama City Beach for overheated Florida tourists to cross paths with curious marine life. Then they noticed flashing lights by the boardwalk, a police truck on the sand and nearly a dozen bobbing heads about 100 yards beyond the beach, crying desperately for help.

Six members of a single family — four adults and two young boys — and four other swimmers had been swept away by a powerful and deceptive riptide churning below the water’s surface.  “These people are not drowning today,” Jessica Simmons thought, she told the Panama City News Herald. “It’s not happening. We’re going to get them out.”She was a strong swimmer and fearless in the face of adversity. But others had tried to reach them and each previous rescue attempt had only stranded more people.

BRAVO TO THE PEOPLE OF THE LIVERPOOL PLAINS… and Alan Jones

It has been announced on Sky News the NSW government will protect the Liverpool Plains from destructive mining – but only after the folk of the fertile farmland in northern NSW fought for it!  It has been protected from mining by a foreign-owned (Chinese communist government owned…ed) coal company but critics say the state government’s intervention doesn’t go far enough with ridge lands still at risk. The Berejiklian government on Wednesday, 12 July announced it would refund $262 million to Shenhua Watermark to buy back more than half of a coal exploration licence in the Liverpool Plains region…

NSW Energy Minister Don Harwin says mining activity will now be restricted to the ridge lands to protect the region’s fertile black soils.  Former local farmer Tim Duddy says the government’s decision is a step in the right direction.  ‘It’s not the silver bullet but it’s the start of one arriving,’ he told ABC Radio.  ‘This is about agriculture versus mining and it is an illustration that in some spaces they are not compatible’…     The NSW Greens have made similar calls, arguing Wednesday’s decision doesn’t go far enough in protecting the region’s water table.  ‘The idea that you can dig a 300-metre deep pit next to a flood plain and it will not impact on the water table is ridiculous,’ Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham said in a statement… An exploration licence for BHP’s mining project, also in the Liverpool Plains, was bought back by the state government last year.     One does wonder where were the Greens during the skirmishes and the ensuing battles?

THE BEST ENEMY MONEY CAN BUY

I believe it important Australians study very carefully just how modern governments have been betraying their own peoples for at least the last century. The answer could be in the following story of Western Capitalism and the former Soviet Union that you have never read.

This business of lending blood money is one of the most thoroughly sordid, cold blooded, and criminal acts that was ever carried to any considerable extent, amongst human beings. It is like lending money to slave traders, or to common robbers and pirates, to be repaid out of their plunder. And the man who loans money to governments, so called, for the purpose of enabling the latter to rob, enslave and murder their people, are among the greatest villains that the world has ever seen.  -- Lysander Spooner, “No Treason” (Boston, 1870)

Letter to The Editor - DEPENDS ON ONE’S VERSION OF ‘HISTORY’

Letter published in The Australian, 6/7/17      “I am bewildered by Bob Carr’s attack on “Israel’s foul occupation” (5/7/17). Just with whom can Israel negotiate a two-state solution?  Or does Carr support the ambitions of Hamas, which controls Gaza, to drive every last Israeli to drown in the sea?  As for Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian territory on the West Bank, he has not held elections in the past twelve years, and his hold on power is tenuous at best. Furthermore, he speaks out of both sides of his mouth: while assuring a succession of US Presidents that he is willing to negotiate a two-state solution, he always backs out by imposing unacceptable pre-conditions, such as the “right of return” of generations of Palestinian refugees to Israel which would demographically swamp the Jewish state.      I suggest that instead of grand-standing at ALP conferences, Bob Carr appoint himself as conciliator-in-chief and see if he can bring Hamas and Abbas to a negotiating table with Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Prime Minister of Israel.”Babette Francis, Toorak, Vic.

To Which Wallace Klinck of Canada Responded:     “I am afraid that Babette seems naively and seriously to misperceive the overall situation.  “Israel” does not “negotiate” with anyone.  It holds to a megalomaniacal messianic world vision as its destiny and only makes demands which serve this end.  A two-state “solution” is impossible because the second state rapidly would be bullied, destroyed and absorbed into the “Greater Israel” Middle East project.  A single state is impossible because Israel will never accede to co-operate with alien elements in a unitary government which soon would become dominated by non-Jewish elements.

CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT ‘HIGHJACKED’?

Spero News.com, 8 July, 2017     Bob Woodson, a civil rights pioneer who demonstrated for equality since the 1950s, said the left has destroyed the civil rights movement and created a myth that income inequality is related to the iniquities of the past, including slavery and Jim Crow laws.  Woodson said as blacks faced great odds in the past, the elderly could walk in their own communities without fearing their grandchildren, as they do today.      What racism and segregation could not accomplish, he said liberal policies designed by Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven and other liberal academics at Columbia University accomplished it.  As examples, Woodson said liberals separated income from work and allowed fathers to become irrelevant. As the black family was destroyed, drug addiction and joblessness increased.Go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hszF3LvD9I4

Donald Trump just ended a tradition of celebrating Ramadan at the White House

In the US, for the first time in two decades, the White House has not recognised the Muslim holiday Ramadan, unlike the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations, which did recognise it. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the State Department would break with tradition and not host a Ramadan reception (thewashingtonpost 25/6/17).to which Wallace Klinck from Canada explained:     Well, recognition by the State could well be interpreted as an endorsement by Government.  If that is to be accorded then in all “fairness” it should be done for every other “religion” large or small even if entirely incompatible and at odds with one another—or with the larger society or the State itself.  The problem is, of course, that when different groups of people find “realities” which are not compatible but all claim, honestly or otherwise, to be correct—how do you accommodate this chaotic situation?  I think that it is fairly safe to say that in final analysis there is only one “reality”—but what mortal human is qualified to render a conclusive judgement on the matter?  We who have developed within and from an overwhelmingly “Christian" background seem to have produced with great historic faith, effort and dedication the most advanced societies and I think that we would be very foolish to abandon this achievement to the demands of minorities or foreign migrants, promoted and encouraged through subterfuge by hostile elements, domestic and foreign, who are skilled in exploiting our “tolerance” and “fairness” for their own ends.  Obviously, I am biased toward the Christian concept of life because I think that, although it has by no means been adequately followed and has had its own dark moments in history, it has in balance produced through its unique emphasis on individual freedom by far the most desirable conditions for humans.  Nominally, at least, and historically, it is overwhelmingly the dominant belief system in our part of the world and I think that wisdom requires that we should retain it in our continuing, but increasingly threatened, free and open quest for truth, in its broadest interpretation, as the only known sound foundation upon which to construct civilization.

Organic change effected by constant contact with the real world and universe is both inevitable and entirely desirable—but we should resist sudden and/or radical social upheaval engineered by hidden and secretive forces bent on overthrowing millennia of development for their own self-serving ideological, political and economic agenda.  So far as Islam is concerned, aside from the undeniable merits of some of its individual members, it is as a collectivity both ideologically and politically militant and fundamentally incompatible with our civilization and I think that the two belief systems should remain in their own regions of the globe to demonstrate to themselves and to the world what they can achieve.  Islam has nothing essential to offer the West and we are under no obligation whatsoever to extend to it an opportunity of occupation and inevitable conquest through the means of its high birth rate alone.  We already have erred fatally by succumbing to the inimical policies of another group which is very small in number but exercises by deceptive means and subterfuge an influence that is thoroughly out of proportion to its numerical presence.       In my opinion, politicians who compromise the interests of their nations either by bending to wealthy and powerful minority interests or by promoting an influx of foreign peoples for the intended purpose of securing an expanded electoral base are guilty of betraying their nations and are the basest of people, devoted to the quest of power and devoid of morals or ethics.  One wonders, of course, what this may have to say about the people who repeatedly vote them into office. The people perish for want of knowledge.

LEFT WING OF PARTY ‘WINNING’ BOASTS PYNE - Andrew Bolt on Sky News

Sky News host Andrew Bolt has exclusively obtained a leaked recording of Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne saying the faction is in the ‘winners circle’ during a gathering of moderate Liberals before the party’s federal council meeting in Sydney last Friday night.

In the recording Mr Pyne says senior members of the moderate faction have risen to positions of power in the government.

THE PYNE/TURNBULL BETRAYAL OF CONSERVATIVE VALUES

I have simply changed certain words in the following article from those of Ivor Benson’s where he explained former PM Ian Smith’s betrayal of his Rhodesian people and nation. Benson asked the question:

How else are we to explain the dazed incomprehension with which the rank and file members of the Liberal Party, even members of parliament, even cabinet ministers, looked on as one by one all those ‘evil geniuses’, genuine opponents of the socialist world revolution, were defamed, tricked, driven out of the party, or in some other way deprived of any influence?
